ADDU formalizes partnership with five Indonesian Muhammadiyah HEIs

With its mission to promote cultural understanding and friendship with its Asian neighbors, the Ateneo de Davao University – through its Ateneo Internationalization for Mindanao Office – hosted an Indonesian delegation composed of five (5) Muhammadiyah HEIs for an exploratory meeting for potential areas of collaboration. The visiting Indonesian universities include Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY); Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka (UHAMKA); Universitas Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung (UNMUH BABEL); Muhammadiyah Pharmacy Vocational School of Cirebon (STF Muhammadiyah Cirebon); and Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar (UNISMUH MAKASSAR) last 10 August 2020.

The delegation met with representatives from various ADDU departments namely the Ateneo Internationalization for Mindanao Office, Arrupe Office of Social Formation, and the Al Qalam Institute for the technical discussion of implementing joint programs.

To follow through with the visit, the Indonesian Delegation visited the ADDU once again for the Ceremonial Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the institutions. During the signing, ADDU was represented by its President – Rev. Fr. Joel E. Tabora, S.J. – and Executive Vice President – Mr. Jeremy S. Eliab. Among the 5 Indonesian HEIs, ADDU signed a renewal of MOU with the UMY and a new MOUs with UNMUH BABEL, STF Muhammadiyah Cirebon, UNISMUH MAKASSAR, and UHAMKA.

With the formalized partnership between ADDU and the Indonesian HEIs, collaboration on the areas of student and faculty exchange; international learning sessions; internship programs; joint research activities and publications; international student community service program; short-term academic programs; and other activities mutually agreed upon by the two universities.
